Automated Insulin Pump

A compact automated delivery mechanism with redundant sensor checks, occlusion monitoring, embedded control, and a companion mobile interface.

Mechanical Engineering M.Sc. thesis and IEEE publication
Automated Insulin Pump developed by MARS-Z

ENGINEERING CASE STUDY

From a real constraint to a working system.

MARS-Z works across disciplines so the mechanics, electronics, controls, software, and manufacturing decisions support one another from the start.

01

THE CHALLENGE

Create a compact automated delivery platform with redundant sensing and practical safety monitoring for medical-device research.

02

WHAT WE BUILT

The project integrated a compact delivery mechanism, embedded control, dual-sensor cross-checking, occlusion monitoring, a custom enclosure, and a mobile interface.

03

PROOF + IMPACT

Developed as Moustafa Sharaf's Mechanical Engineering M.Sc. work at Alexandria University, supported by Ezz Steel and published through IEEE.
